Vote buying allegedly rampant in Tacloban City

  • Uncategorized

The mayoralty race is allegedly riddled with blatant and widespread vote buying in Tacloban City. Field reporters, poll watch groups, and civilians cite alleged vote buying incidents outside the precincts, with each vote reportedly worth P1,000 to 3,000, although earlier reports say the votes can go for as low as P100.

Reports point to both mayoralty candidates , incumbent mayor Alfred Romualdez and opponent Florencio Noel. Both camps denied the allegations and pointed to each other’s illegal campaigning. The Romualdez camp has announced that they will push for a failure of elections  because of the massive vote buying.

A stampede earlier today is said to be a result of vote-buying in Tacloban City.
