Poll watchdog Kontra Daya trooped to the main office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Manila yesterday (May 10). The group demanded accountability from poll officials and private election vendors Smartmatic International Corp. and Dominion Voting Systems.
Led by Kontra Daya convenor and main spokesperson Fr. Joe Dizon, the group slammed Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes for hyping the late arrival of the controversial source code of the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines.
“At this point, the source code review is meaningless, all for show. It doesn’t absolve Brillantes and Smartmatic and Dominion of accountability for subverting our right to credible, transparent and democratic elections and undermining the entire electoral exercise,” Dizon said in front of Kontra Daya volunteers and supporters.
Kontra Daya has set up a national monitoring center and will field volunteers in various parts of the country to document and report cases of PCOS problems, fraud, poll-related violence and other developments on May 13. (End)
